Just like last season’s fashions, I see different beauty trends flying through my news feed online every day. I have to admit, in my 20s; I would be hot on the tail of every latest beauty trend. My 30s have brought an entirely new outlook on life, and on trends. As we get older, having gone through our beauty trials and tribulations we start to feel more comfortable with ourselves and realize that the latest trendy shade of hair colour and edgy cut isn’t really going to make us look 20 again. It might temporarily hide those wisps of sparkles and dullness that’s happening to our hair, but a few weeks later we are contemplating when we need to make our next appointment.
Women are funny; we put ourselves through so much in the quest to look and feel beautiful that we don’t often think about the lasting damage that can be done. Over processing, heat styling, one acrylic nail application too many will leave even the healthiest woman with sighs of regret. I recently fell in love with the whole gel nail and eyelash extension trends. I mean who wouldn’t? Diamond tough shiny polish resistant to chipping, peeling and fading for 2 weeks? Eyes framed in lusciously long and perfectly tinted feathery lashes à la Kardashian? I thought I was in boy mom heaven and I loved being able to cook, clean, and have my nails look like I just stepped out of the salon until I realized my once healthy nails have become so weak and thin that they split and peel like crazy. My “average” lashes are now shorter and sparser even though I take breaks in-between fill in’s, my body is not bouncing back from the beauty abuse as well as it used to.
Some may say it’s the price we pay for beauty, but is the beauty trend fallout damage that happens to our bodies really worth it? Besides, doesn’t true beauty start from the inside? It really does not matter if you are a gym rat up at the break of dawn to get to your morning spin class, or that you are the smoothie queen on your block. If you are torturing yourself to achieve the latest beauty trend, no amount of working out or nutrition is going to help you repair it.
When I was challenged to try Nature’s Bounty® line of products for women, and commit to 30 days of healthier living, I thought, “Why not?” Clearly, just trying to eat healthy is not enough on its own anymore for my body bounce back from the beauty abuse I’ve been putting it through and it’s time to start taking better care of myself being on the cusp of the big 4-0 and all.
Nature’s Bounty® has been around in Canada for a little over 6 years and is one of the leaders in vitamins and nutritional supplements. Having an athletic husband, I’m no stranger to nutritional supplements, but I wasn’t aware that there was an entire line of nutri-cosmetic vitamin products created by women devoted specifically to the needs of women. When you feel good, your natural beauty shines from the inside out.
I loved the feminine look of the product line, it is light and clean. Can I just say how much I love the strawberry taste of Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin, & Nails Gummies with Biotin!? They are so flavorful, and dissolve easily with a delicious juicy burst of strawberry flavour! I have to remind myself that they’re vitamins; I look forward to taking them every single day! Nature’s Bounty® Hair, Skin, & Nails Gummies are formulated to help maintain the health of normal nails, hair and skin. Each gummy provides 7.5mg of Vitamin C, 7.5 IU of Vitamin E and 1250mcg of Biotin. The vitamins are available at all major retailers in Canada.
Your body needs biotin to help metabolize carbohydrates, fats and amino acids which are the building blocks of protein. Biotin has long been recognized for helping support nails, maintain hair and skin and is found in many cosmetic products targeting hair and skin.
Now that I’ve committed to 30 days of healthier living to help me look and feel great in 2016, I hope you’ll follow along and join me!
