I drink coffee. A lot of Coffee. Everyday.
(I’m also a night owl but totally not related to my coffee consumption…I swear!)
I love the rich, full bodied aroma of a good cup of coffee. 2 cream, no sugar… Just the way I like it. I used to have my percolator set for 6:30 am so I can wake up to the intoxicating scent of fresh brewed coffee first thing in the morning. I’d have a cup to wake up and get ready with then pack a flask full for work.
Besides being a mom to 4 and working full time during the day, I Moonlight. I have a night life. The magical hours between 11 pm and 2 am (sometimes 3am) when everyone else is a sleep.. is when I write. These are the hours I can sit undisturbed and be alone. Just me, my thoughts and my writing. I call them my “Creative hours”
I generally have my last cup of coffee around 5:00pm when I get home, to give me that PUSH to help with homework, get dinner done and tidy up around the house. If I drink coffee any later then 6:00pm, I will not be able to fall asleep until around 4 or 5:00 am which makes for one Cranky Mamma!
What if you could have your Coffee and go to Sleep too? Yes, you heard me right! Counting Sheep Coffee has a line of coffee that’s… not.. really.. coffee?
Touted as a sleep aid, Counting Sheep Coffee is an all natural swiss water decaffeinated brew that contains Valerian Root. Valerian is historically used as a sedative, anticonvulsant and pain reliever. Counting Sheep Coffee comes in two strengths; Forty Winks and a stronger dose called Lights Out. Both strengths come in either k-cups or a packaged ground variety and are available at Bed Bath and Beyond or Amazon. Counting Sheep Coffee is the love child of 2 Vancouver natives Deland Jessop and Joseph Fernandes who first appeared on CBC’s Dragon’s Den.
Watch Deland and Joseph’s pitch on Dragon’s Den:
I tried the lights out K-cups and I am very impressed that this is full flavor decaf. If I didn’t know, I would never thought it was decaf. It is so rich and full of aroma that perks you right up. Unfortunately, I can’t quite remember much, I know I sat down to write and my husband woke me up around 1am to go to bed..
Counting sheep coffee is perfect for coffee lovers who need a little nudge to drift off at night. Now, you can enjoy a great cup of Coffee and not worry about being up all night.. quite the opposite.. you may just find your self peacefully asleep.
Note to self: Don’t drink counting sheep coffee when you have a deadline due the next day… it probably won’t get done.
