There is an awakening happening. Slowly, people are starting to realize that there are things being done to our food and eco system that should never have been allowed. How we’ve been manipulated to eat, some may say was designed to make us sick for long term “treatment” revenue. What ever the case, there is no disputing that over the last 20 years or so there are more people on daily medications then anywhere in the world. As well as an increase in food allergies because of everything being done in the food industry. Becoming aware of the state of the North American diet can be quite the eye opener. It can be down right scary as you slowly discover that the food you’ve been eating isn’t actually food anymore. Food produced and marketed to us is so overly processed with chemicals and modified ingredients. As you become aware, (that they’ve been putting glospholate [round-up] in corn) you start making cleaner food, health, beauty and cleaning choices for your family.
It can be a tough sell when you have teens at home who are accustomed to eating so much processed foods. I have been making the changes product by product and introducing more organic (when I can afford it) not processed chemical laden foods.
The easiest way to start the transition for your family is to just change one thing at a time. The first change I made was that I stopped buying soda. It never lasted long anyway in a house of teens and I felt so much better knowing that I was helping them kick the habit too. It became easier to make other changes such as not buying bread (unless its’ organic and sprouted) paying a little extra for Organic fruits and Vegetables and buying only real fresh one ingredient butter.
One of the hardest parts adapting to the Real Food Movement is the testing period of going through new products to see if you and your family like them. With Organic and specialty products, this process can get quite expensive.
Being a monthly subscription box junkie, I was elated when presented with the opportunity to discover Little Life Box.
Little Life Box is a new Canadian monthly subscription box full of 12-15 sample of healthy products. (health, beauty, food, supplements) It costs $19.99 a month plus $3 shipping anywhere in Canada (except for the territories….. sorry guys!) Over the next 3 months, I will be reviewing Little Life Box and sharing with you the types of products you can expect to receive when you sign up.
What I love about subscription boxes is that you get a chance to try products you never knew existed or wouldn’t otherwise try on your own. They can be a great way to discover new and exciting non toxic products for your family.
The first Little Life Box that I’ll be discovering with you is the April 2014 box (check out my youtube and vine videos at the bottom of this post) I will be updating it each month for the next 3 months so you can get a good idea of what you can expect when you sign up.
What was in the April box you ask?
Stay tuned to see what arrives in May’s Little Life Box.
